Image Deletion Problem using 4.2 build (379)

Using 4.2 build (379)
A user post his/her ad and uploads a picture/image.

The system will automatically delete that picture/image whenever the post is deleted. (so far, all is well..) <img src='https://asprunner.com/forums/file.php?topicimage=1&fieldname=question&id=9810&image=1&table=forumtopics' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' />
The problem comes in whenever the user has edited the post and uploads a second picture/image.

when the post is deleted the system deletes only the current photo leaving the original file on the server. <img src='https://asprunner.com/forums/file.php?topicimage=1&fieldname=question&id=9810&image=2&table=forumtopics' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':angry:' />
This causes a real bad housekeeping problem. <img src='https://asprunner.com/forums/file.php?topicimage=1&fieldname=question&id=9810&image=3&table=forumtopics' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':angry:' />
I contacted Tech support VIA email and was thanked for bringing the problem to their attention and the only solution given was to upgrade to Version 5.
I have elected to stay with version 4.2 build (379) and need a code fix / or work around for the problem.
