auto increment field (stopped incrementing)

I'm having trouble with a table with an auto_increment key, perhaps someone can give a beginner a pointer.
It appears that at record # 127 it has stopped incrementing. When we try to add record # 128 we get this error
Duplicate entry '127' for key 1
Ive checked my mysql set up and the key field is still set to auto_increment. Beyond that Im not sure what to do.

please make sure you have not set up User can see and edit their own records only security method on the Advanced security settings dialog on the Security tab.

Thanks Jane but no that doesnt appear to be the case. infact the advanced tab is greyed out.

It's difficult to tell you what's happening without seeing actual files.
Please publish your project on Demo Account and send to support@xlinesoft.com a URL to your pages along with instructions on reproducing this error.

I'll find what's wrong with your project inspecting it at Demo account site.
