Hi all,

I am taking over our web admin position and I am really new to ASP. We are running windows 2000 with IIS 5. We are also running Sharepoint services 2001 on the server. We have a MS access database that we use for finding employee phone numbers. It is a simple 4 catagory DB. I have been playing with the demo version of ASPrunner, and I have questions on doing two things.

  1. I want a page that I can do a search from, but does not initally list any info in the database below. Everytime I create or change the asp I keep getting the list of ee's as well. I just want the search box function.
  2. Is there a way to password protect the edit and delete functions as we only want certian people to have that ability. I saw how you can password the whole database section, but I want all users to have access to that.
    Any assistance would be greatly welcomed as I need to make sure this will fit our needs before purchasing.

Bill,
first of all you need to make sure you use latest version of ASPRunnerPro (version 3.1) that can be found at http://www.xlinesoft.com/asprunnerpro. See my answers below:

  1. Check off No records on the first page checkbox on the List page (Step 4 of 12).
  2. Proceed to Security page, choose database-based security model and click Advanced Security. Click Define User Group Permissions to define what users can edit and delete data.
