Datepicker issue with pop-up blocker

Trying to advance the month in the datepicker box does not show the desired effect. I found out that the pop-up blocker prevents this. Is there any way to get around this - I mean not by user intervention, rather by programming the date picker differently?

I'm afraid you cannot have a popup window with calendar if popup-blocker blocks it.

The datepicker window actually pops-up despite my active pop-up blocker. However if I advance or choose previous month, the pop-up blocker prevents this. Looking at other implementation i.e. hotel chain reservation systems, advancing is possible despite pop-up blocker, so I think it might be just a small implementation issue. Any ideas are greatly appreciated.
