How to change the location for downloading files

Hi,
I have a table listing with a link that should open previously uploaded files. This only seems to work if the location is within the root of where the application is generated. Can this work outside of this folder.
the folder name is 'files' but I want it to look in a different folder than the root.
Any help is much appreciated.

The current URL to download a file that has been uploaded is

http://www.fruitionpm.com/fruitionportal/t...ume&key1=16
I would like for the url to be this..
http://www.fruitionpm.com/fruitionpm/tblRe...ume&key1=16
The difference being from 'fruitionportal' to 'fruitionpm'.

I don't think it's possible until you copy all files from fruitionportal folder to fruitionpm.
