I have five tables in my database (MS-SQL)
Three are for general viewing by anyone connecting to the site i.e. List, View
Venue

Venue Review

Venue Event
Two are 'Account Masterfiles' i.e. Add/Edit Only (NO general List, View)
Owner (contains fields for login email and password)

Member (contains fields for login email and password)
Once an 'Owner' has setup an Account they are able to add/edit 'Venue' OR 'Venue Event'.

Once an 'Member' has setup an Account they are able to add to 'Venue Review'.
My questions are:
How can I go about prompting for 'Owner' email and password in order to add/edit 'Venue' OR 'Venue Event' ; and

How do I go about prompting for 'Member' email and password to add a 'Venue Review'?
Thanks,
Richard.

Richard,
here is how it usually works.
Guest users are able to view data without any restrictions. No editing is allowed.
Owners/Members proceed to the login page first.

Based on User Group Permissions logged users provided with access to specific tables, pages and records.

I don't think this will work. Based upon your recommendations I think I need three logins.

  1. I actually need one general login i.e. Guest (list/view Venue, Venue Review, Venue Event)
  2. I also need a login from the 'Members' Table who have all the rights of a guest but they can add to table 'Venue Review'.
  3. I also need another login from the 'Owners' Table who have all the rights of a guest but they can add/edit their own Venue, Venue Event (based on Parent/Child relationship from Owners Table to Venue Table using common 'OWNER ID' field.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Richard.

Why do you think it won't work?
PS. Guest users don't need a login.

I am fine with the guest part although I don't really need a overall 'site login' (i.e. I am happy for anyone to see list of Venue, Venue Event or Venue Review)
What I require is when a Members wishes to add a Venue Review a login prompts them for email and password from the Member Table.
In addition when an Owner wishes to add/edit/delete a Venue or Venue Event a login prompts them for email and password from the Owner Table (then they can only see/edit/delete their previously entered data).
I undertand this is a bit unusual as I have three types of users accessing the site. These are Owners, Members and the General Public (which view only).
Thanks,
Richard

Richard,
this is exactly how it works.
By default all users proceed directly to the website bypassing the login page (they will be logged in as a guest automatically).
When user clicks Add/Edit link he is redirected to the login page. If passwords matches he'll be able to access the page.

I understand the principle here but the software only allows a login from one table which defaults across every other table (i.e. the login changes made to access Member Review effect every table)??

Sergey Kornilov admin 12/11/2007

Yes, ASPRunnerPro only allows one login table per project.
The idea is you just need one login table to implement your business logic.
Probably you need to contact me directly at support@xlinesoft.com sending your database and order number.
