Select where eventdate is gt or eq to today

I have been trying to get this to work but it continues to puzzle me. I need to display all events that are >= today's date. I've tried all combos of date format types 2007-10-03 and have used CURRENT_DATE in the select statement but can't get it to work. Any help out there?

Try this below:

>=NOW()-1
