ASPRunnerPro General questions

Sergey,

At the moment, the Forum is really a support domain for your products. A lot of people, myself included, continually ask questions, on how to do this or that.
Sometimes, we users also find a neat trick to perform with ASPRunnerpro (eg. the topic recently on how to create a link from a graph segment to a report). As an avid fan of ASPRunner, with every intention of continuing to use this package, I would like to enhance my knowledge and skills on it's capabilities and potential.
There are many other forums on ASP, PHP etc, in which snippets of code and 'How-to's' are easily obtainable.
Could you please start a new section in the forum to allow code and how-to's to be pasted. This could be specifically (or not), on how to get the most out of ASPRunner. As a (relatively) non-techie, when I want to do something new with the tool, it inevitably takes me an age to figure it out. I would like to be able to share that information with other users, and I'm sure they would also. (if anyone would like to share a step-by-step on reporting from a graph-segment (or any other formatting, table actions, emailing etc), I would love to see it on this site.
By working together, we could build a significant Knowledge base, helping all of our skills, getting us more work and encouraging Sergey to keep developing the tools.
If anyone else agrees and would like to see a user-forum created, can they please stick a support response on the back of this string?
Thanks

Andrew

I too agree with Shandy ; I bought this application because implementation of asp code is fast and done for us. But sometimes there is need of a code snippet to an event or a SQL statement espcially when using session(userid) variables that are just to advanced and we end up searching areound for hours on how to implement the code into our events . If there were a guide for using events with more real life uses we can cut and paste them into ours . One example I have been trying to accomplish is multiple groups in the advanced security area to setup different areas where one group does not see data from the other group. But the admins control the data.and they are different Groups/Admins controlling that data; so what I need is to have multiple groups sections in the advanced secuirty area for each group not just one with edit and see his own records because the users need to see the records that pertain to that admins group. Then they go on to other groups and admins. I can do this wieh another project but will now need multiple projects for every group. With multiple projects for each group/adimns the problem arises that everytime a new group/admin comes along I have to build a new project . It would be much easier to have a section in the secuirty area to pick more than one groupfield data such as Group1 and assign it to multiple users who belong to that group1. As ii is now you can only have one Users section with their security one or multiple admins seeing all data ( which would not work for this example ) I have tried using SQL statement in events using the session userid where you check a specific record and try to list theese records on the list.asp page ; bu all kinds of errors come back.

John,
we already have a separate forum branch where everyone can post tips, tricks and code snippets.
