I downloaded the demo version and tried it. If I create a table then it loads up on demoASP site and it works.
1/ If I start with an excel file with some data, then at the end when publishing option, I tried to upload to Demo option and a check box appears UPLOAD ALL DATA. With or without checking this box, the files do not upload.
2/ Does the entire excel file with all data in it convert to online database which can be maniputlated.
3/ I am not certain how to publish it to my site. I tried to load it via ftp to a folder and midway it would not load a db file. Does this mean that something on my server has to be set or activated.
My site is Globalaviationconsulting.com.
4/ Another observation is that when I publish the file to DEMO site and then try to export it to pdf the font overlaps in each column when converted to pdf. If converted to word it comes out OK.
5/ For people like me who are not programmers, it would be good to have a step by step CD to assist thru each possible scenerio or provide online support.
6/ My goal is to take excel and access files and convert them to online DB and start editing them online. Can the word files be also converted in same way.
7/ Another observation. Can one set up a password to allow access only to allow READ ONLY authority and then another password for EDITING authority. My pages will be viewed by my colleagues and I do not want the data edited by them mistake. Can the software track who made the changes and which password was used to make the changes. This would be good for security purposes.
Many thanks for my first questions. It is seems to be very interesting program that you have and I do want to use it.
PS : I did find out that my server is Linux and I guess it does not support ASP. Is there a way still to make your software work or can you suggest something else that will allow excel files to be manipulated on line and save on line.
Many thanks again and again

DATABASE FEATURES, MYSQL 4. NO possible with upgrade, PhpMyAdmin NO possible with upgrade.

Smiles,
Excel is not a real database. I would suggest to import Excel data into MS Access or in MySQL.
It appears your existing web hosting do not support any databases.

You need either to upgrade or to find another web hosting.
If you plan to find a Windows-based web hosting convert your database to MS Access and use ASPRunnerPro.

In other case convert your database to MySQL and use PHPRunner.
I hope this helps.

Sergey,
With my limited knowledge, I must ask.
In the long run is ASP more advanced or is PHP runner the software that promises more advanced features and commanility.
I see that the ASP wizard does allow excel files to be loaded for conversion, but as I understand now these excel files must first be converted to Access or MYSQL in any case. Does one need a special program to convert excel files to Access or MYSQL. I have to try Access to import the excel files and then save it, which I think it should do. Note sure about MYSQL conversion. Any tips please.
Can you load the php runner for me on my site and Can I change the cover page with my Logo. Can this be done easily or does this require someone to modify the index file. I have html experiance but not php or css files.
In all you demo sites after logging in the page opens to one issue topic. Can the opening page after logging in open to a MENU PAGE which could select different topics to view or edit. I am sure this is possible but should ask.
Kind Regards

Steve Baidwan

If you are not a programmer you don't have to worry which technology is better. Pick the one that is easier to use.
In your situation I would go with MS Access and ASPRunnerPro.

  1. Find a Windows-based web hosting.

Contact me directly at support@xlinesoft.com if you need help finding one - we provide web hosting to our customers as well.
  2. Import Excel database into MS Access. MS Access provides import capabilities so no third party software is required.
  3. Run ASPRunnerPro against this MS Access database.
  4. Use Visual Editor to insert images, logos etc
PS. If you have more than table in your project menu page is the default one.
