Hidden List Fields

I have a table with many fields.
In a list view, I would only like to display a few fields.
However, I would like to have search access (advanced search access, in particular) to additional fields.
For example, I have a table with fields a, b, c, d, e, f, g.
I would like fields a & b to appear on the list view. And I would like to be able to search on fields a, b, c, d, e, f and g.
If there an easy way this can be done, by modifying the template files for example?
It would also be great if I could export these additional fields as well.
Thanks!

sure you can do this.
Just make all fields searchable and do not display them on the list page.

Hmmm...
If it's not viewable on the list page, then I can't make it searchable.
If I make all of the field viewable and searchable, then go to the format screen & uncheck viewable, it still displays the fields.
Is there something I'm missing?
Thanks!

I see what you saying.
Let me see if I can build a custom version for you that allows to make any field searchable. Feel free to contact me by email to ask how it's going.

Hi,
I'll be pleased to have this custom version, if possible.
Thanks
