problem with search

to replicate:
I tried to use advanced search and seleted only the month, however all data were showing.
Usal search with specific date like Apr 02, 2007 works fine
however if I use only month as a search criteria it does not work.
problem number 2:
Name of the person is looking like this Dr.Emerald
If I decide to search through "Emerald" -giving a full name I get nothing, if I try to search "Dr.E" = get nothing
however if I search "eme" or "dr." the search works.
unfortunately I cannot zip and send this anymore, since the information in the Db is confidential.
