hi, i do not recall if anyone has responded to this particular issue.
Is it posible to specify multiple upload folders?
for example, I have images arranged by folders
Asia/Afganistan/Year1800-1900

Asia/Afganistan/Year1901_present

Asia/Afganistan/gold
in the ASPr runner settings the only option available is to store all images in 1 folder.
windows has a problem with it:
the more files in the same folder the slower overall access tiem, and obviously slows down

In ASPRunnerPro you can only use one upload folder per database field.
How do you see having multiple upload folders?

Which one application needs to pick to place the uploaded file?

I did not understand the last sentence.
however answering to your another question : here is what I see it like:

How do you see having multiple upload folders?

  1. the deafault "files", or "images" (depending on imagination folders are being created.
  2. while clicking "browse" button to get the needed file from elsewhere(where it is originally located) we can have an option to

"create a New folder" and the name it accoprdingly..
    is that possible?
just imagine a 45.000 records(images) stored in 1(one) folder to retireve a list will take some time.

What I'm trying to say is that this approach leads to unmanageable application.

  1. Correct permissions are required to enable web user create folders.
  2. Without seeing what folders and subfolders already there users will end up creating a bunch of duplicate, misspelled or poorly named folders.
I wish I understand why do you need to retrieve a list of files residing in some folder on the web server.

Hi,

I have a database of minimum 20.000 banknote images (reverse and obverse) each 250kb hi-res.
I Am not sure if I upload all of them to any webserver in 1 folder it will not "hang" the aSP runner made project or even the webserver...

Give it a try on your local webserver. If it works there is no need to search for another solution.
