Changing column width in Visual Editor?

there is no possibility to ensure that a certain column is really a certain width. This is the way HTML and browsers work.
Just a suggestion: specifying column width works better if you have few fields on the LIST page.

Please could someone give me a concrete example on "where" to do this? In the html in the template? in the stylesheet? could you show some snippet/sample?

I know HTML is difficult to format exactly, but having all the entry fields (in the edit screens mainly) of the same length is quite ugly and error prone, to say the least. I suggest you improve this feature and make easier to tweak this and other cosmetics (they are important issues regarding usability) in the visual editor in the next versions.

If you right click in any column you want to set a specific width, you have a option (under properties) to specify the width manually in px or %
This works fine for me to ensure specific width for specific column

I'm using 3.1 build 218 and I have the same problem chemi has..... Stephen, your correct if your working with a list but I think chemi is talking about add and edit windows which modifying properties of the field or the cell within the visual editor doesn't appear to change the appearance.

to change field width on the Edit/Add page double click on the field and modify value in the Size text box on the "Edit as" settings dialog.
