if you don't want the menu page in a project

I have no use for the menu page in a current project. Landing page is a dashboard (and it's set in "Misc" as landing page).

Question: if the menu page should nowhere be available in the deployed app, what's the "official" or preferred way to exclude it?
(I mean the menu page in "Common pages".)

I currently removed all the items on the menu page and set it to "Skip the menu page when only one item is available to the user " in "Welcome page options", and this seems to work.
