Copy field properties / search settings between projects

I have two projects accessing the same database. The first project is a web site for staff to administer the data tables; the other is a web site for visitors to view the data in the tables. These are two separate web sites and and two separate URLs.
I've just spent the better part of an hour getting all the field properties and search settings set up for a 20-field table in project 1 and now I'm faced with duplicating the majority of those settings for the same table in project 2.
Is there a way to copy the field properties and search settings for the common tables from project 1 into project 2?
