Lookup wizard - Edit Box with Ajax popup

i use phprunner 7.1 cannot find db_prepare_string($value."%") to replace with db_prepare_string("%".$value."%") so i can search any part instead of taking 1st,2nd,3rd chars from the left.
can you help ?
