Search does not work properly with ajax drop down field

I have a filed customer ID which and i am using dropbox "Edit Box with Ajax popup" Link field is Customer_ID
Now when i chose Display fields as customer ID it works fine but when i choose Display field as "Name or anyother" it does not show any data even if search input Customer_ID or Name in search.
