Hi
Can you load an image to database directly from a scanner ie. without scanning to the local drive and then browsing for the file.

No, you cannot. Browsers can only upload images from the hard drive.

As Sergey said, standard browsers can't do this. But, there are add-ins available that allow you to do it if you can configure them on your server and client. They're not 'drag-n-drop'. An example is:

But there are a number of them out there...
