companies table contains an "Active" flag. we need to filter the data to only active when the user is choosing from a select field on the page but show all fields when in the company maintenance form(list). Best way?

Not sure I understand how it should work and what "user is choosing from a select field on the page" is.
Can you supply screenshots that explain both modes?

nevermind the lookup wizaard handles the issue ...i was just blind
