Chrome & Safari no inline child objects

I found a forum topic on this but it was locked and didn't offer any solution. It is obviously known, are there any workarounds?

I'll try Chrome and Safari on my 5.3b test system over the next few days and let you know my results.

Inline child objects do not show. You just get 'loading' with nothing happening.
I briefly tried in 5.3 and it seems ok but it means re-doing some of the custom layout.
