Hey everyone,
I've been working on developing a mobile web application for iPhone, Android, etc. I'm using PHPRunner as the backbone for my app, but having to perform tons of tweaks, not only in CSS, but also with the structural ouput files generated after compiling a project. I know many of us have asked Sergey/Jane/Ann and the rest of the crew for a mobile compatible site. Some of us have requested more Web 2.0 themese, etc.
Here's what I am proposing to the community:
Lets use a "GroupOn" (www.groupon.com) type model to help Xlinesoft expedite the development of a mobile theme for PHpRunner by pre-paying for such a theme before it is even built! Sergey would set a total dollar amount goal, which would be the required minimum amount for them to commence development on the theme.
For example:
Sergey would announce that such an endeavor would require at least $10,000 of revenue to justify its development. Then, based on the number of people interested in buying the mobile template, we would divide the minimum price by expected number of buyers, and use that result as the "individual purchase price" that each buyer would have to buy ahead of time.
Let's suppose that 200 people vote they would be willing to purchase the them... then we would all agree to pay $50 for the theme. Likewise, if only 100 people vote yes, then we would agree to $100 for the theme. Once this the price is established, each buyer would submit payment to Xlinesoft and they would only commence development AFTER the total buyers reaches the actual $10,000 minimum. The project would remain on hold, until actual purchases are able to surpass the $10,000 mark! This aensures that Xlinesoft will not be wasting their time, money, and resources on a project that may potentially not have a decent ROI.
What does everyone else think?
Vote for the idea here!!!

A couple of points to add:

-The price of a mobile template has to stay at a reasonable level

-Somehow there should be a way to reward the "early payers". This would give an incentive to many other to contribute upfront rather than wait and jump on later on. So a lower price for the first contributors would be fair (or a discount on extensions etc.)
More web 2.0 which is suitable for iPhones, Android etc is definitly a big step for ASPR/PHPR. Ok, it may be just a template but frankly that's the interface that end users see and work with on a daily basis so it's gotta somehow reflect the inside of this product which is simply great!

I think the idea of having a mobile template would be great. I use ASPRunner so I would need it in that version.
Does anyone have recommendations for how an existing ASPR project could be "mobilized"? I saw something about adding this line to the <head> "<meta name="viewport" content="width=400"; />" but that alone doesn't make my application very friendly on an iPhone or Droid. If I knew how to change my app through the Visual Editor or CSS, it would sure be helpful.
Thanks.

I've been going through the templates and creating a set based around jQuery Mobile. So far all I have are pages for add/edit of records and working on how best to display records. It is working, but I'm not including all the possible features, just what my current project requires. At the current rate I'll probably have something to demo in 8 - 10 weeks given that it's a secondary priority at the moment.

As a reminder to all following or newly reading this post... if you have ever tackled mobile web development, any of the price points mentioned/suggested above are an INCREDIBLE bargain. I know I'll likely get flack for this from users in this forum (for encouraging xlinesoft to price out this solution at a higher price point); however, I can state unequivocally that a couple hundred dollar investment in a template/solution that is optimized for mobile web development (cross browser compatible on ios, droid, pre, etc) is a bargain compared to the countless man hours you'll invest in getting your solution to play well with these devices.
There is A LOT more than meets the eye when developing for mobile device... yes,it gets easier once you get the hang of it... but nevertheless having the flexibility that PHP Runner offers for web dev available in mobile would be invaluable. I actually did manually tweak the core template files to allow me to generate mobile apps from PHPR, however, its not pretty and still requires a lot of manual tweaking, includes, etc.
Anyhow, I hope we can rekindle this forum and get more people to voice their support for developing this template/solution.
Cheers,
