Hi,
The new php 5.2 quick search is useful but it's quite awkward to go along with my current theme

when expanded, because i have a wide page with many fields and it make the page wider when user

clicks the options.
It will be good to have an option to turn it off or an option to use the old simple search.
Also in my own opinion, there is no need for so many themes which

may be hard to maintain when new version is in place. And we have to wait

for our favorite themes to be updated with the latest release.
Eg. If we have just one modernised/improved version of mariad+amsterdam,

or may be a new sleek, compact and simple layout, then we just need different color themes

to match it up and each release, xlinesoft can focus to make this basic theme modernized

and great without spending time to make other themes updated, like i think it's quite hard

for me to make Amsterdam looks good for my customers.
No need to maintain Amsterdam and etc with each release, which does not go well

with advanced features we release to clients along with a not-so-updated interface.
Not meant to create an uproar from those who use some of the themes

which i suggest here to drop but maybe it will be easy for us and phpr/xlinesoft

developer to focus on 1 main theme with different colors with each new release

and we get one good and updated theme with different colors. In that way, we can wrap the phpr website to a template like joomla, if need more fancy look,

with well documented integration guides here. So sleek and compact with different colors should be good for most of us.
Just my thought and for consideration, no offense please everyone.

Yes, I must agree with the first point. Advanced search on the list page is a great feature, but not always needed/wanted. At the very least it would be nice to have an option to default to hidden. And I just made it hidden, then did a search in the basic search box, and when the results came back, advanced search was no longer hidden.
Not sure I agree with the points about maintaining all the themes. I utilize many of them. And updates from xlinesoft seem to come at a good pace as it is. And no offense taken: certainly a good topic for discussion.
(BTW - i'm an asprunner user, but thought it best to jump on this already created topic, as theses points seem related to both products).
Thanks for listening.

Wait, I just discovered that I can remove all fields from the Quick Search column on the Fields tab of the wizard and this removes the search along the left of the list page. That works for me. Not sure if it solves it for you acpan, because you don't have the old simple search were you can choose your search field.
It would still be nice to be able to default the quick search to hidden.
Thanks,

Tim

ya, I had to get rid of this , the office hated this new feature, quickness is the name of the game here and more clicks means more time. I am attempting to find a way to get the old pulldown field values back in the search as a constant on the page and not a widget. so far no luck , but trying.

Our customer too liked more the old Quick Search than the new search box. This is stopping us upgrading to PHPR 5.2.

I too like the old search layout better. Is there an easy to edit the lheader template file back to the old search?
