events.php file problems

I created a PHP snippet on the header section in Visual Editor. All looked fine the first time a build took place, buy once I uploaded the project, there appeared to be an error on the page. When I went back to the Visual Editor to correct the problem, the snippet had been replaced with a {doevent snippet1} entry instead of the yellow box and I was unable to correct the code. I thought I could correct the problem by resetting the header page and trying again. Unfortunately, "snippet1" is still being built into the events.php file and the error is preventing the header file from working. Editing or deleting the events.php file does not resolve the issue and every time I add a new snippet to the page, that code is added to the events.php file as well.
How do I clear up this problem?

Hi,
unfortunately custom events don't work in the header or footer in PHPRunner.

I recommend you to move your event to the list page.

OK. I can understand that, but how do I get rid of the entries in the events.php file? The page has been reset and I have manually removed the entries in every copy of events.php I could find, but every time I build the project, the entries come back.

Hi,
just reset header on the Visual Editor tab.

That solution does not work. This was the first thing I tried.
