It deleted my application. Is anyone else experiencing this with the latest McAfee?
6.0 was deleted after being detected as virus W32/Sdbot.worm.

5.2 was deleted after being detected as trojan Generic.dx

Hi,

same thing happened with me today, I have ASPrunner pro 6, and mcafee enterprise 8.5i scan engine 5472 and 5473 deleted asp exe file.

I solved this issue by excluding "C:\Program Files\ASPRunnerPro6.0\" directory from on access scan properties, than reinstalled asprunner.
Regards,

Tarek

I had the exact same problem and your solution fixed it! THANKS!!!

I too am experiencing the same thing.
I tried to exclude C:\Program Files\ASPRunnerPro6.0\, but it only worked temporarily.
What's going on?? Is there some hidden "bad file" in the application itself?
I hope we get a fix soon, because I'm down.

That do you mean "Temporarily"?

were you able to resinstall?

Were you able to start the app?

Did your .exe dissapear again?

Are you sure you excuded the correct folder?
I would reccomend, uninstalling....create a new ASPRunnerPro6.0 folder, going back in the MCAfee and adding the new folder to the exclusion list --make sure you also select all 'sub folders', and resintall again. (This worked for another friend of mine)

I uninstalled ASPRunner 6, then proceeded to exclude the C:\Program Files\ASPRunnerPro6.0\" directory, than reinstalled asprunner 6 and all looked good.
I opened a project, and after a few clicks in, I got the virus screen again showing it deleted the W32/Sdbot.worm, blah, blah, blah. The program closed, and the exe file was gone. I checked to see if C:\Program Files\ASPRunnerPro6.0\ was still excluded, and it wasn't.
I tried this 3 times.
If you can do it, that's great, but we shouldn't have to. Why is this happening anyhow? It is really putting me in a difficult position.

Got the same issue. Asprunnerpro.exe kept on being deleted. Unfortunately we can not change settings because our mcafee virusscanner is managed centrally by EPO at our company.
Yesterday I uploaded the file to the mcafee webimmune website to get it analysed, but still no answer. The case has been escalated though.
This morning I tried again and now, since the installation of the new DAT, I have no problems anymore, but I do not know if Mcafee did something or our IT.

Anyhow it's fixed now.

Yep, ours is managed by EPO and is out of my hands, with the guy who manages it out for the holidays and personnel shortages during the snow storm. I did uninstall and reinstall, but it will only last until the next scheduled scan. Much like frosty the snowman.

I contacted Jane of XLinesoft and below is her reply:

"Turn off McAfee.
This is a false positive. I've emailed McAfee already. Hopefully they'll be able to fix this in the next update.
You can speed up this process contacting McAfee support and sending the following link:

I appreciate your help in this regard."

I have to exclude the folders for both ASPRunner Pro 5.2 and 6.0 in the exclusion list. Here's how to do it:

  1. Open up VirusScan Console
  2. Right click on "On-Access Scanner" and select "Properties"
  3. Select "All Processes" and then click on "Detection" tab
  4. On the bottom of the screen is the "Exclusions.." button. Click on this.
  5. On the next popup, you can "Add" the folder of the ASP Runner. Click on the "Add" button.
  6. On the next popup (under "Select what to exclude"), select "By name/location". You can type the location of ASP Runner, by default, "C:\Program Files\ASPRunnerPro5.2\" or you can press the "Browse" button to select the location.
  7. Make sure you also checked/selected the check box options "Also exclude subfolders" and under "When to exclude" the options "On Read" and "On Write" should also be selected.
