PHP Upgrade Question

I have PHPRunner 2.0.
I posted something a while back regarding a project I'm working on and the suggestion was to install the shopping cart template as it would be much easier for me to achieve my end goal.
I purchased the shopping car template today, downloaded the zip files and unzipped them.... only to find out DURING the install process that the templates require PHPRunner 4.2.
If you go through the website and look at each page leading up to actually purchasing the templates, there was nothing noting a requirement for PHPRunner 4.2 or higher. It wasn't until AFTER the purchase was made and the install started that I noticed this.
I would like to use the shopping cart template and PHPRunner as it seems useful, but I've already spent the original $300 for PHPRunner 2.0. I want to know if there's any sort of upgrade path or policy regarding previous owners/users that provide the upgrades for free, or for a nominal charge.
I am not a web developer, I have no commercial use for the software or the products it creates outside of making my own life easier and quite frankly, I will not spent another $300 or $400 just for this and I'm a little ticked that if there IS a requirement for PHPRunner 4.2 it is not clearly stated prior to purchasing the template pack.
Any ideas?
Thanks
