I would like to show an image on the list and view pages for when the user picks either "For Sale" or "Sold" values in the add or edit page. Is this possible?

Hi,
yes it's possible.

Use Custom format on the "View as" settingsdialog on the Visual Editor tab. Actual code is dependent on your project settings and field types.
