We have developed the first version of the Calendar template.

You can see a preview at http://demo.asprunner.net/mikl%5Fxlinesoft...ndar5/login.asp
Login as Guest with readonly access or use admin/admin for full access.
Let me know what do you think about the UI and functionality.
Also we'd like to know what additional templates you like to see in ASPRunnerPro/PHPRunner. Be specific and descriptive. Posts like "I need a school management template" don't ring the bell.
At this moment we think of developing a Members template which is a password-protected members-only website where you need to pay (PayPal) to get an access.

I like it! I have a client that wanted a calendar, and I used the Events template, which actually works really well, I think. However, next time a client wants a calendar, I can use this :-)
My first thought though....... the calendar itself seems a little large, can it be resized by tweaking the template?

Really good!
One thing I see is that most of the event calendars I have seen (for Joomla) have Category, which can be another filter -
Our Events

Other Events

Yet Another Category of Events....
In general, look at JCalPro or JEvents in Joomla for features...I think you have them nailed.
OH, and a template for members/subscriber login and payment collection seems valuable too.
Thanks,

Ken

oooooh - just what I've been looking for - more or less. <img src='https://asprunner.com/forums/file.php?topicimage=1&fieldname=reply&id=22411&image=1&table=forumreplies' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />
Needs an end time for events - and a field for a thumbnail image for the event.
a la this
http://www.beadfx.com/classes/schedule-11-2007.jsp
(which is the site I am converting from hand coding to database driven, one data category at a time!)
Actually - I would like to modify it even further with adding teachers and classes as separate tables and then just scheduling them at specific dates. as classes are run more than once.
fyi - as it is a beta - when you select "add new" from the first tab (labeled calendar), the time field is a text entry field, not a drop down of times. When you select "add event" somewhere where you get the pop up box, i.e. from selecting a day in the monthly view and hitting "add new" or "edit" - then you get the drop down with the time choices.
Excellent work!

Looks great I have a number of uses for this.... as you know I've been waiting for it.
I integrated "Proverb Web Calendar" into a couple of my apps but don't have the ability to make the entries on the calendar a link back to the original item.... this would work much better.
Reoccurring events/appointments would be a nice addition.
Is this template available or for sale?

Looks like a great start. I would have to ask the same question, will this be released for PHP Runner also? Would love to start tinkering with it soon!!! I am excited to see this template. Was just thinking you needed to develop such a week ago. One suggestion is to add a filed for if it is a repeating event and if so how often so it adds the even at the interval suggested for the length of time given. For example, Birthday's are an annual event and say you want it on the calender for the next 5 years or so. Then it would auto repeat every year for the next five years. In looking at the demo I noticed that events on the monthly calendar were on day off when viewed in the weekly or daily view. For October, the oil change event was on the 18th in the month view but appeared on the 19th in the week and day view. Not sure why that is. You guys are making great stride. i love your program and recommend it highly.
One other thing while I'm commenting. I would like to see something built in to the wizards to use dependent drop downs that are linked to other dependent drop downs. For example If I select a person in the first drop down box it will then limit the options in the second drop down that will then limit the options in the third drop down and so on. You had said you were interested in developing such last year but I haven't seen it yet. Hope to see it in the next release. It would also be nice to develop a way to pass multiple session variables from page to page to select information that will be presented from the database on the called page.

a suggestion: An export possibility as a .vcf file fo the appointments of the calendar would be cool, especially for Outlook users.

I am having some difficulty logging in to view the Calendar. I'm entering Guest as the Username and leaving the password field blank and its returning invalid login. What am I doing wrong? <img src='https://asprunner.com/forums/file.php?topicimage=1&fieldname=reply&id=22450&image=1&table=forumreplies' class='bbcemoticon' alt='<<' />

Everyone,
thank you for the feedback!
Calendar template will be available for both ASPRunnerPro and PHPRunner. Most probably we'll bundle it with the Shopping Cart Template. If you already purchased Shopping Cart template you getting the Calendar template for free. If you purchase the Calendar template you get the Shopping Cart template as well.
We anticipate Calendar template to be ready in couple of weeks.
So far I see the following requests:

  • make the template look smaller (probably to fit 1024x768 browser window)
  • add a category field
  • add an end time field (and a "whole day event" checkbox)
  • recurring events (not sure if this can be easily done)
  • export an appointment in .vcf format
  • edit time as a dropdown box
    Did I miss something?
    ---------------
Tony, use Login as guest link
Brad, dependent dropdown boxes already exist in PHPRunner. Feel free to contact support team of you need more help.

Hi Sergey,

Thanks for the reply. This looks great. We are looking at creating a Resource calendar (eg. meeting rooms) and this looks like it could do the job. Will it it be possible to view more than one Resource in the Daily view? We are looking at using this to book meeting rooms at 3 different locations and would like a way to view Bookings of several calendars on a single daily view if possible. Something simple and user friendly. I have looked at Meeting Room Manager from Netsimplicity and looks great but we wouldn't use half its functions and the price is a little over the top.

Cheers

The calendar template is a great idea and has great possibilities.

Just wondering why people should buy a calender option if Google calendar has a fre version available with many features like calendar sharing with coleagues (with user shariing, editing, deleting features), e-mail reminders, pop-ups, sms notification, repetitive, all day events, etc.
What would the "edge" be to convince people to buy the PHPRunner version?

Hi
it look to follow the right way
BUT with :

  1. recursive appointement
  2. read/write from/to outlook calendar (single / exchange version)
  3. categorize field to choose different color / thumbail for every appointement
  4. filter option by user , category , color/thumbail
    it become more complete.

Super excited to see the calendar demo! We've been looking to start using a database driven calendar.
I'd just like to echo the requests to have events span mulitple dates/repeat by week/month/year and to have categories with color coding...plus the ability to filter on the category would be a bonus.
I would like to see something with the features found in the demos below, but with the ASPrunner touch and support. <img src='https://asprunner.com/forums/file.php?topicimage=1&fieldname=reply&id=22476&image=1&table=forumreplies' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

Thanks,
we'll definitely add color-enabled categories with filtration on the list page and recurring events.

Outlook/VCF import and export won't be available in the first version.
Tony, yes you can have multiple events within a single day.
Stephan, I hope you are not serious. Google calendar is probably a nice piece of software however you cannot tweak it your way, you cannot connect it to your database and you cannot put it to your website.

I think my previous entry may have been a little confusing. Just to confirm, we are after a view with multiple calendars for a single day.

You're right, our calendar is unique in the sense that it can be connected to your own personal daytabase. That's great. What is important to me about Google's (and it might be a feature in PHPRunner's) is the fact that I can view my staff's daily activities on the same calendar as mine- and choose the coulours for easy ID. Also, I can give others (like my PA) permission to add appointments to my diary without doing double bookings.
I'm not sure if this will be possible in PHPRunner's calendar, but for me this is essential as I'm not always in office and is thus able to monitor my staff's activities and have appointments made on my behalf.
Keep up the great work.

hfg 10/24/2007

The most promise I see with this is the ablity to integrate it with other PHPRunner projects. I have a system where sales reps keep track of customers including appointments to make calls or visits. I would see value in them being able to see these events in a calendar form. For this to work the event would have to be assoicated with the user (sales person) and the customer. Currently I just show them a list of events.
I would like the sales peoples view to be limited to just their events (appointments). However the admin (Manager) would need to see everyones.
I like what I see so far.

admin 10/24/2007

Sure, all kinds of security settings can be applied to the Calendar template. This is a regular project in ASPRunnerPro/PHPRunner after all.

J
jzapapas 10/24/2007

It would be great to have a quasi thumbnail of the monthly view, to be able to place on an existing page, then linking to daily or monthly view, depending on whether the 'date' or month were clicked.

Similar to: http://www.ech-test.net/metadot/index.pl (right side of page)

Thanks, awesome!!

You guys continue to out do yourselves. We use a standalone calendar program for internal company purposes. I don't have nearly the control that I would have with this template. Great stuff.

Knowledge base would be great too.
Thanks.

Hi,
best php calendar I've ever seen is the mockup ajax planner with flatcalendarxp integrated. It is full ajax driven and uses drag and drop for new events. A demo is available under http://www.calendarxp.net/tt_flat.shtml.
Perhaps its possible to integrate such a calendar into phprunner?

F
Fawaz 11/5/2007

I would say the template is great, but it would be nice if such template will be as a part of the project rather than new separate project, i.e. I have my PHPRunner project, but I would like to add the calender template to the project, so that the users of the system will use the calender along with the main project
Sergey, do you think this is possible?
Another template I might think of is Support Ticket System template, this is also helpful for most of PHPRunner projects. Once again, I believe such templates should be added to existed projects rather than creating new PHPRunner projects.
Regards,
Fawaz

I had a look at the calendar, and it's great. Here are some comments. I use Google calendar, so I'm sorry to mention some features that I use on it that is wonderful. Maybe some of it can be implemented in this calendar.

  1. A today button that will take you straight to today's activities. maybe a today tab next to the Calendar, Monthly, Weekly, Daily tabs
  2. A specific colour of the entries or block where today is, to ID it easily.
  3. Showing different users (or groups - say marketing dept.) in different colours.
  4. Option to allow users / groups to view, add, edit other's calendars.
  5. Grey out of history days (Yesterday and past) At the monent it seems like it's showing in red, but only from the day befor yesterday .- Today is the 6th. On the demo calendar yesterday is not in red.
  6. In Google entries can be dragged and dropped to different days and times. This is very useful. Probably not easy to do this.
  7. E-mail reminders to set to warn of meetings certain times befor the appointment. - 5min. 10, min. hour, etc.
  8. Popup reminder when calendar is open.
  9. SMS reminders.
  10. A daily reminder by mail showing today's activities.
I understand that you are not to duplicate an exsisting Calendar, but these are features that I use everyday. If some of them are included in PHPRunner''s Template, it would be worth it, as the integration and use of your own database is VERY helpful. Also for security purposes.
I think this is a great template that will surely be of great use.
    Keep up the great work.

admin 11/6/2007

Stephan,
you can add all of this - PHPRunner is your friend. This is just a template, a framework that can help you build the application. If we add all those features you talking about people will spend most of their time removing features they don't need.
Fawaz,
unfortunately we cannot add a template to existing projects. I recommend to create a new project using the Calendar template pointing it to your existing database. Once project is created you can add existing tables to this project.
I hope this makes sense.

hello
the calendar is excellent, when will it be ready to use, have many uses for it.

as soon as possible please as i really need to get started on one project that i have put off with a client for 2 weeks waiting for it
the idea of a Members template which is a password-protected members-only website where you need to pay (PayPal) to get an access.

this is excellent as i use one at the moment but have to manually add access to the site.
thank you for all your great work

Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a000d'

Type mismatch: 'obj.events(...)'
/include/events.asp, line 35

This error I get when I have logged in as admin/admin and:

  1. click the left navigation menu "Calendar"
  2. click add new button
    similarly:
  3. click left navigation menu "Yearly" or "monthly" or "weekly" or "Daily"
  4. click any "underlined dates"
Then only one that works is Category and Users (however Users has only inline add).
I need to use this template since we are developing online scheduling system where admin can log in and add recurring schedule where address is a key field(by clicking the address(which is now during testing period is using Subject field in the template) the pop up windows should display a list of allcomplaints that were recorded from that address.

    Is this at all possible?
I was thinking of adding an extra table to the template calling it "complaints" with the following fields:
    ID -key field

    Address

    Complaint
I know I am missing linkage here - could someone direct me correctly?

    Thanks
