- added recurrent events
- added colorized categories
- added whole day events and event end time
- you can view/edit events without leaving
Export/import capabilities are postponed till version 2.
-------------------------------------------------------------
We have developed the first version of the Calendar template.
You can see a preview at http://demo.asprunne...ndar5/login.asp
Login as Guest with readonly access or use admin/admin for full access.
Let me know what do you think about the UI and functionality.
Also we'd like to know what additional templates you like to see in ASPRunnerPro/PHPRunner. Be specific and descriptive. Posts like "I need a school management template" don't ring the bell.
At this moment we think of developing a Members template which is a password-protected members-only website where you need to pay (PayPal) to get an access.

I like it! I have a client that wanted a calendar, and I used the Events template, which actually works really well, I think. However, next time a client wants a calendar, I can use this :-)
My first thought though....... the calendar itself seems a little large, can it be resized by tweaking the template?

One thing I see is that most of the event calendars I have seen (for Joomla) have Category, which can be another filter -
Our Events
Other Events
Yet Another Category of Events....
In general, look at JCalPro or JEvents in Joomla for features...I think you have them nailed.
OH, and a template for members/subscriber login and payment collection seems valuable too.
Thanks,
Ken

Needs an end time for events - and a field for a thumbnail image for the event.
a la this
http://www.beadfx.co...ule-11-2007.jsp
(which is the site I am converting from hand coding to database driven, one data category at a time!)
Actually - I would like to modify it even further with adding teachers and classes as separate tables and then just scheduling them at specific dates. as classes are run more than once.
fyi - as it is a beta - when you select "add new" from the first tab (labeled calendar), the time field is a text entry field, not a drop down of times. When you select "add event" somewhere where you get the pop up box, i.e. from selecting a day in the monthly view and hitting "add new" or "edit" - then you get the drop down with the time choices.
Excellent work!

I integrated "Proverb Web Calendar" into a couple of my apps but don't have the ability to make the entries on the calendar a link back to the original item.... this would work much better.
Reoccurring events/appointments would be a nice addition.
Is this template available or for sale?

I am excited to see this template. Was just thinking you needed to develop such a week ago. One suggestion is to add a filed for if it is a repeating event and if so how often so it adds the even at the interval suggested for the length of time given. For example, Birthday's are an annual event and say you want it on the calender for the next 5 years or so. Then it would auto repeat every year for the next five years. In looking at the demo I noticed that events on the monthly calendar were on day off when viewed in the weekly or daily view. For October, the oil change event was on the 18th in the month view but appeared on the 19th in the week and day view. Not sure why that is. You guys are making great stride. i love your program and recommend it highly.
One other thing while I'm commenting. I would like to see something built in to the wizards to use dependent drop downs that are linked to other dependent drop downs. For example If I select a person in the first drop down box it will then limit the options in the second drop down that will then limit the options in the third drop down and so on. You had said you were interested in developing such last year but I haven't seen it yet. Hope to see it in the next release. It would also be nice to develop a way to pass multiple session variables from page to page to select information that will be presented from the database on the called page.

a suggestion: An export possibility as a .vcf file fo the appointments of the calendar would be cool, especially for Outlook users.
Thanks

I am having some difficulty logging in to view the Calendar. I'm entering Guest as the Username and leaving the password field blank and its returning invalid login. What am I doing wrong?

Cheers

thank you for the feedback!
Calendar template will be available for both ASPRunnerPro and PHPRunner. Most probably we'll bundle it with the Shopping Cart Template. If you already purchased Shopping Cart template you getting the Calendar template for free. If you purchase the Calendar template you get the Shopping Cart template as well.
We anticipate Calendar template to be ready in couple of weeks.
So far I see the following requests:
- make the template look smaller (probably to fit 1024x768 browser window)
- add a category field
- add an end time field (and a "whole day event" checkbox)
- recurring events (not sure if this can be easily done)
- export an appointment in .vcf format
- edit time as a dropdown box
Did I miss something?

Brad, dependent dropdown boxes already exist in PHPRunner. Feel free to contact support team of you need more help.

Thanks for the reply. This looks great. We are looking at creating a Resource calendar (eg. meeting rooms) and this looks like it could do the job. Will it it be possible to view more than one Resource in the Daily view? We are looking at using this to book meeting rooms at 3 different locations and would like a way to view Bookings of several calendars on a single daily view if possible. Something simple and user friendly. I have looked at Meeting Room Manager from Netsimplicity and looks great but we wouldn't use half its functions and the price is a little over the top.
Cheers
Tony

Just wondering why people should buy a calender option if Google calendar has a fre version available with many features like calendar sharing with coleagues (with user shariing, editing, deleting features), e-mail reminders, pop-ups, sms notification, repetitive, all day events, etc.
What would the "edge" be to convince people to buy the PHPRunner version?

it look to follow the right way
BUT with :
1) recursive appointement
2) read/write from/to outlook calendar (single / exchange version)
3) categorize field to choose different color / thumbail for every appointement
4) filter option by user , category , color/thumbail
it become more complete.

I'd just like to echo the requests to have events span mulitple dates/repeat by week/month/year and to have categories with color coding...plus the ability to filter on the category would be a bonus.
I would like to see something with the features found in the demos below, but with the ASPrunner touch and support.
