Terminate Process

Hi,
does anyone know how to terminate a process with a "Cancel Request" Button.

I have a large amount of records. once the request is submitted if you try to use another hyperlink it waits until all data has been loaded before transfering. Also if you press the stop button then Home button it will continue to count the records before returning you to the home page.
