edit page not working

4.1 build 300 (just updated but had problem with 4.0 too)
I have a project where the edit page is not posting changes to the mysql database
The add page works fine but the edit page seems to work then nothing gets updated when you hit save
I have tried to delete the edit page and re-create it but that did not fix the problem.
Any ideas?

I think I had to completely delete an action that I had added to the save event by hitting the clear button instead of editing the text. I didn't get any deeper into it than that.
