PHPRunner 4.0 beta 1 (build 228)

Hi. I have tried your PHPRunner 4 Beta. I can't connect to database server. I have tried two XAMPP servers on my local computer and another on remote server in my company. Older versions works fine, your new beeta stil with error number 10016.

Hi,
nothing has changed in database connection part since previous version of PHPRunner.
Perhaps you need to check your firewall settings to allow new PHPRunner make network connections.

mmmm i have a "small" problem with version 4.0 beta ... NONE of my table views from v3.1 are there. I can only see the tables and nothing else ....
well it looks like my beta testing was over before it started ... i have over 40 different table views ???

I like what I see. Need to learn these new things though. I see no help features for charts and reports. Is it available somewhere already?
Will editing multiple fields in list view be available in some update. This would be a great feature.

And yes, we still plan to implement inline editing/adding/multiediting on the list page.

This will be included into next PHPRunner update scheduled for late summer 2007 (northern hemisphere).

I've had a quick look at 4, I like what i see, reports and charts, it's just a pity I bought zxChart a few weeks ago, I can see that not getting used much now <img src='https://asprunner.com/forums/file.php?topicimage=1&fieldname=reply&id=16933&image=1&table=forumreplies' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
A few questions.
will we be able to use the AJAX functions to populate boxes on a form from a dropdown or use AJAX to replace a dropdown?
And on the report, if we have a field that is from a lookup, how can I display the correct value from the lookup in the report?

I can't find out how to do this bit yet, no doubt the updated help file will help me with this. will this also work with the master/detail rollover?

Can the same thing be done on the master/detail when you rollover the link to the details as they come up with the IDs?
I have tried to save a record and it doesn't save and doesn't come up with an error, it did have a required field which i never clicked to be required but this has been changed. No idea if this is a bug.

Every time you need to display a value instead of ID use the same procedure - setup a Lookup Wizard as "Edit as" type.

It works exactly the same way for all tables: Master, Detail or any other one.
If you have an issue with editing a record send to support@xlinesoft.com all info required to reproduce the error. It's kind of difficult to see what you mean.

Maybee I need more testing.

The one issue I have run into is with the reports. When I use the "Print Whole Report" link, the page that opens breaks up the report and repeats the footer several times. Possibly I have set something in the report up incorrectly, however, the "Print This Page" link works beautifully even when I list the entire report. See the link below for a visual. Nice work though so far on 4.0.

Is there a problem with the output directories?
I want to be able to save the project in a project directory that I specify whilst saving the output in the local webserver root folder just as I do using v3.0.
Unfortunately I can't seem to be able to do this as I get a file not found error with the following details when I specify the output folder as 4test in the local root directory (C:\inetpub\wwroot\4test) and the project folder as C:\Program Files\PHPRunner4.0\projects\4test\
Requested URL: http://localhost/4test/index.htm
Physical Path: C:\Program Files\PHPRunner4.0\projects\4test\output\index.htm
This says to me that my browser is looking in the wrong place for the files. This was confirmed by copying the contents of C:\inetpub\wwroot\4test to C:\Program Files\PHPRunner4.0\projects\4test\output\index.
Is there something somewhere in the generated files telling the browser to look for the files in C:\Program Files\PHPRunner4.0\projects\4test\output\index.htm irrespective of where I save the output files.

Is it to do with virtual direcories?
Either way, I could achieve what I wanted in 3.0 and now I can't.

I seem to be having a problem saving data into a table, it seemed like it was expecting a required field.
The table wasn't created by phprunner, when I changed the table to have the _ at the start and put in the createdBYphprunner field it worked.
I also seem to have a problem with fields been marked are required when i haven't ticked the box.
This is what I mean with the lookup fields in a rollover

This might be obvious and is not meant to be patronising - have you made sure that any firewall software on your client is registered to allow the new version through. I had exactly the same problem :-)

just in case check the value of rows per page variable value. We start a new page after certain number of rows. Try to increase this number to fit data on single page.

it looks like some confusion between physical and virtual directories. Make sure you don't have a virtual directory with the same name as a physical directory under WWWROOT.

If you upgrading from PHPRunner 3.0 make sure you check upgrade guide in PHPRunner manual.

Make sure fields are not marked as NOT NULL in the database.

In regards of lookup fields in AJAX preview - I see what you mean. We'll fix this.

Missing space seems only be a visual editor issue. It appears fine on generated pages. I'll check what we can do about this.
Details table preview will be similar to how details table look. Not sure about customization, probably in some later version.

Thanks, I had overlooked the lines per page setting when creating the first test report. Bumped it to 80 lines, and all looks good now. Thanks for the response.

Is there a way to maintain color settings made within the Visual Editor on the new "Reports page" (cell background color) for the future if I have to reset this page? Such as a sytle sheet file etc?

"Reset page" means "full reset".
We'll implement more tight reports and stylesheets integration in later version.

Right now you can only reset the whole page.

I also like what I see. However, I also have a comment.
The Ajax search functionality does not appear to use the "like" search.
Example: Record holding my name "Morten Jepsen"
Typing "mor" will find all the records holding my name. However, when you have selected "contain" you should also find alle record with my name when typing "jep". This is not the case.
Or is it simply that there is a switch that I have not found??

I hate to be stubborn on this and I know you will do your best to get the charts to have advanced search quickly but the charts are useless unless there is a way to control them. I did create a separate query for each chart but this is not a practical in the real world. I work with a bunch of industrial engineers who love charts and they need to be able to present the data the way they need to.

I seem to have another problem, when I rollover detail link and it displays the detail records, it always displays downwards and it's then difficult to scroll down to view the rest of the records.

As you can see, the details drop off the bottom. When the link is at the bottom of the list hardly any detail records are in view, is there any chance the script can decide if it needs to display up or down from the link?

The AJAX rollover works for me in IE but not in FF. Anybody else experience this-is it a bug?

I have upgraded to version 4.1 from version 3.1 and I am having issues with the build. Version 4.1 cannot find file in the output directory for my project when I try to "upload all files from the Output Directory".
However, I did notice that the path is incorrect for the files it is looking for:
c:\programs\phprunner\project_name\output\\login.php
As you can see, there are 2 backslashes before the login.php file - how do I change this?

   Version 4.0 don't require older versions to be uninstalled. You may keep PHPRunner 3.x and use both version side by side. PHPRunner 4.0 is able to open projects created by older versions. All features available in PHPRunner 3.1 will work exactly the same way in new version.
   Beta version runs in trial mode. You'll need a new registration key to register this update. We'll send new registration keys to all customers who entitled to get a free upgrade when final version is released. If you purchased PHPRunner less than one year ago you can get version 4.0 as a free upgrade.
