I've been using my phprunner trial for a few days now, and have been thrilled with what it can do.
Before I commit to purchasing it though, i was just curious, are there any alternative programs with similar capabilities out there that anyone knows of?
Like i said, I'm loving phprunner so far, I just want to see what all is available before i buy it.
Thanks!

I have spent days trying all such available solutions and if you'd like to save the time, I can say 1 soft was doing a decent job, and in the end not one compares to PHPrunner.

I don't have anything to gain by saying that, but have been in your shoes and think PHPRunner has been one of the best "investement" I have done for my webdesign company. I also think small-size companies that develop great solutions and provide great support for them deserve to succeed.

I hope that helps !

Ditto here. Great program - easy to start to use and modify but most importantly the back up is great and the online community solve most if not all programs. Never seen anything else that has this array of features at a comparable price.

the only other one I have tried is Cold Charge Studio, this was so difficult to get into that I gave up, also it was just stupidly priced.

PHPR does the job so well, the support is fantastic, not just from Capatain sergey and his crew, but from all the forum members.A true marriage of good commercial product and open source type support!

Dream weaver also pretends to do things with PHP and mySQL. Again the learning curve is bad and the code seems dirty.

I bought PHPR a while ago, my clients are well pleased with the databases backed web pages I develop for school use.

It is fast, easy to use straight ooff the web and it has the option of almost infinite customisation.

Do not waste time and money on other products, just get your cash out for pHPR NOW!!!

I just have to say it is well worth the price! For those who are not php programmers, it does so much for you, and by spending some time customizing the code, you really begin to understand php and how to code in php.
Also, the forum is the best I have ever come across. You almost always get an solution that works, or direction to follow to get a solution in very little time.
I started with PHPR 3.0 and have just recently started working with PHPR3.1. The newest version has really improved on an awesome product. I am learning all the new features (there is always a learning curve), but I am confident that once I get my head around it, it will be everything I want and more.
Thanks, forum users and PHPR support for all the help you have given me in the past and all the help I will surely need in the future.

Here are some similar alternatives
Code Charge Studio

Pretty expensive. But full of bugs and hard to use. Very steep learning curve. But the bugs make it prety awful.
PHPMaker

Fairly basic system.
Scriptcase

Web based. Did not look very good.

dbQwikSite

This is probably the nearest competitor to PHPRunner. It is half the price and just as good - if not better. It certainly LOOKS better - it it has a prettier interface and generates a prettier web application. It has a lot of good features that PHPR does not - for example a designtime and runtime database setup. But I have not used either much, so I could be missing something.

TurboPHP (Turbo Studio)

This looks like Delphi - but it is not fully released yet. A bit like Code Charge Studio. Looks promising.
There are a couple of other very simple wizards out there, but these seem to be the only serious ones I could find that work with PHP.

I purchased and installed DbQwikSite. It never did work right -- kept losing connections to database plus seemed to crash a lot. I finally got fed up and uninstalled it.
I downloaded and tried Code Charge Studio. I could not get it to work -- seemed to generate php code that had errors on my server. So I also deleted it after a day's trial.
On the other hand, PHRRunner has always worked well for me and I have created quite a number of applications. It is relatively simple to use and never caused me any problems. In fact, it has worked so well that I have little need for support, which as others have said is excellent.
Just my experiences.

I've done a lot of searching after having endless crashes and slow interface / updates with DbQwikSite. (BTW their support is hopeless)
After testing a lot of programs (Installing and uninstalling) PHPRunner came out tops.

Yes, I'd like to see more done on the Visual Editor to better visual appearance, but I know they are working hard on it. The events are great and makes customising easier. More ready to use events would be great, though.
In general, a GREAT product wit EXCELLENT support. I basically check the forum every second day for new posts and the updates taht always have some surprises of new features in it.
Great job, PHPRunner!!!!

I personally own a license for CodeCharge Studio, it was outrageous what we paid for it. Honestly after about 4 months I finally got the hang of it, and that was wroking day and night. PHPR is the bomb. It's ease of use, quality of output, and reliability makes it by far the best in my opinion. It amazes me that not very many people have heard of it before in the development community before.
One thing that I really like about PHPR is that let's say I am in the middle of designing an app for a client and I have a phone call or other distraction, PHPR allows you to save where you are and pick up on it at another time. And, you know exactly where you left off. Switching to PHPR from my other environment has also sped my productivity up quite a bit. The other "big" factor for me is support, especially when you deal w/ software that can generate as many processes as phpr can on the fly. Sergey is always fast to respond and tell me what I am doing wrong... Can't say enough great things about PHPR...

I did buy appgini, it worked well but after a while I found it limiting. There was no way to add events, if I needed a user login system then I had to write that bit and add that function to all generated pages.
I also looked at easygen, didn't like this one. I found it time consuming to make a project so it was quicker to code it longhand.
I then found PHPR which makes life a lot easier, almost all my project can be saved in a single file, it's a bit like appgini but with more features so it was easy to learn. The support is excellent, if I need to know something I just ask on here and it's usually answered the same working day and AJAX integration is on the cards.
There's still few features I'd like to see, some sort of payment gateway for example and a way to name the header and footer pages it uses.

don't waste your time.

I spend a lot of weeks to test other generators.
At least I bought PHPRunner.

Especially the support is very good. Other companies (like Scriptcase) never answered any question...
I got everything to work.
Best regards
