Change the image button dinamically

Hi Guys,
I would like to be able to change dinamically an image associated with a button as the same way we can change the label (using - $("span[data-itemid=idbutton]").find("a").text(proxy["title_mail"]); ).

Any tips?

Thanks for your post, but in fact i need to change the image associated with the button, not the "type" of the button as explained in that article.
