HI Guys
Just want to introduce myself.

My name is Danie, from South Africa, but currently 5 years in China working as a Software developer, and Cloud Specialist at Hangzhou International School.
I'm completely new with PHPrunner, and feels like I learn from start again.
Short History.

I've been a Software developer for 30+ years.

I start young playing with ZX80, Vic20, Commodor 64.

After my 2 years military service , did my BA in Electronics Engineering, and Computer science.

My first programming job were a mainframe programmer, using cobol, Natural, VTam Adabas.

Move to another company I converted 100dreds of IBM/HP Basic Tape drive computers to GWBAsic, Turbo Basic, Clarion Developer 2.0 (Good old Dos 3.2-6.0 days), and become a specialist in Lotus 123, macros.

During my Career, I used various Languages, Cobol, pascal, Delphi, Almost all basic versions (GW, Quick, Turbo Basic), Visual Basic , C, C++

I become a big fan of Clarion Developer (Topspeed, later changed to Soft Velocity)
I'm old school, and still love my line coding hahahahaha
For my hobby I Design electronic circuits, build them and combine with my programming for UI interfaces, I did a bunch of serial/bluetooth interface, using MicroPic in the early days and Move to arduino more than a decade ago.
Laterly my faviorite program languages, Still Clarion Version 10, Appgamekit, Gameguru, Some java, JS, PHP, HTML5, Xcode, and add to the list PHPRunner.
Moving forward a few years
Due to my current job I need to great a Portal system for the school, and a long list of future APP's.

Thinking about pros/cons, to prevent multi app's for all various operating systems, I decided to use PHP/html/mysql.

I bought a copy of PHP Maker but was very disappointed with their service, and some limitations.
Search for info on youtube I come accross Corrie De Wet tutorials, and Fernando Humanes site, and they completely change my mind and we bought PHPRunner.

and since the first day I use it, I LOVE it....thank you Sergey for a great product
Forward to today...
Thanks for all the helpfull articles in the forum, and If I do ask a stupid question.. pardon me hahahaha
New learning curve for me... taking my ages in considiration hahaha....!!!
See ya

Hi Danie.
There are many of us who have developed over many years (I started in 1972) and have gone through situations very similar to yours.
We are all still learning and, as far as I know, no one has said anything because of simple questions, which we ALL ask from time to time.
You like PHPRunner a lot and as you discover its details, the more you will like it.
Value in complementing your developments with a CMS portal software such as WordPress. It will help you a lot to publish public information (without access control).
Greetings,

fernando

Danie,
welcome to the community! I hope you will find all the answers you looking for.
PS. Never worked with Clarion personally but knew a bunch of people who did. My personal experience started with FoxBase and FoxPro back in the day.

Congrats to have found a promising future income slot (hahaha) in South Africa, namely apps for schools.

Be assured, PHPRunner is swallowing everything you might have been regarding to be of claronic value ;-)
P.S. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a4y3UfkATbs - A comparison with focus on PHP 8.0, officially out as

off 26th November, sure, it would be premature to tell that PHPRunner apps shall extinguish any TOPSPEED

named products in no distant time, yet one thing counts for me: Even M$ is afraid that way to publicly

announce they won't support PHP 8.0 at all, just my two little cents that even the BigWigs are afraid.

Danie,
Wait until you get under the hood of PHPRunner. There are "events" which allow you to add code PHP and Jscript to really customize your sites. Since the addition of API's in the 10.x versions, a whole new world has openend up. There are times I get stumped but I have yet to come across any real limitations. Hardest part for me is deciding what to build. Anyway welcome to the forum!
