API Search with Filters

Hi,
is there a way to use api search with filters?
SearchClause srchObj = SearchClause.getSearchObject("Cars");

srchObj.getFieldValue("Make");
Works fine with search but if I used with filters don´t work.

Search API is only designed to work with search.
