- I would like to see the designer interface in 10.# more WYSIWYG. For example, Version 9.8 was nice when you change a field to a phone number, it actually put a little phone icon in the field in designer. It did this with other field types to like, currency, text area, hyperlink, etc. I think it is easier when you stop for a day and revisit the next day you can see what fields still need to be done for settings.
- In version 9.8, it also as a nice feature that you can change template colors and you would actually see the colors in the editor / designer.
- Maybe I don't have a clear understanding of it, but I think a cleaner "wizard" type of interface to import another business template into an existing project would be great. Right now, I back up in two places in case I "blow it up" by the new template changing all of the security, events, etc.
- It would great to see the dashboard area enhanced to where you can easily add widgets, calls to outside pages, a dashboard designer that shows again a WYSIWYG interface to change visual aspects of the dashboard. I understand you can go into CSS and customize. I am suggesting a next level interface.
- I often worry if the database crashes for some reason, you are in big trouble with all of your design and coding work. I am sure everyone has experience this where you open a project and it cannot connect to the database (mysql) for some reason. It could be something the ISP did, a windows update, a mistake you made but the trouble starts when you can not see your designer, or any other tab because the database is having issues. I understand backups and I do them regularly but it would be great to have a rebuild button that rebuilt your database based on the fields in designer and relationships that you have already built. I can understand your data being lost but maybe rebuild an empty database with the fields so you did not lose everything, especially all of your designer work.
- And lastly, I think the calendar template should just be completely integrated into PHPRunner and not something that you have to try and add and worry about messing up existing code or making a change afterwards that kills the calendar. Most apps have a calendar. If you didn't need the calendar, you can just turn it off. (But should be on by default)
Anyway, this is my current wish list. I am in no way bashing the existing phprunner, I think it is fabulous software. Just thinking next level stuff. Thanks
Paul
