I recall that there was a way to save a standard setting(s) for a cell that would apply whenever the cell name was used: lets say an ID field. Standard background, font, name etc. for any form it is used on.

Possible? How?

There is no such thing as a "standard setting for a cell". The field label can be set via Label Editor but other properties depend on the page where this field appears.
