Delete file when associated record is deleted

In the Edit as section under File/Image
I click the Delete file when associated record is deleted
I add a file then later delete the record with the file in it
I look on the server and the file is still there.
Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? Or is there a fix for this?

Yes I did and that is why I am posted the question.. it is checked and the files all remain on the server

I rebuilt the table and it worked... must have been something glitchy in that table
