Recently Excel has stopped opening the Report exports from PHPR projects using both 8.0 and 8.1 versions, I suspect a Microsoft update has something to do with this.
After the download of the Excel Export for a Report if you try to open with excel it will just sit there, no errors, and the screen does not change. Excel is not froze either. Has anyone run into this recently and found a workaround?

Hard to tell what might be wrong. Try it on another machine just in case where different version of Excel is installed.

OK, it is definitely the recent Security Update for Microsoft Excel (in my case KB3115322 32-bit for 2010, German, installed a week ago).
Several people had the same problem with our database (PHPR 5.2 - xls didn't work, csv worked fine).
After deinstallation everything is fine again.
