New vs Edit Fields

Is there a way (sorry I have been looking) to allow fields to be added, and then locked when editing?
I need certain fields such as opening date to stay locked after the initial date has been entered.

Alan,
you several two ways to achieve this:

  1. Remove those fields that you don't like to modify from the Edit page
    or
  2. Set Edit as type to Readonly and set Default value to Now()
