PHPRunner General questions

The general announcement by the administrator advices me to search the forum before posting. This is not easy.....
Wouldn't it be a good idea to add more subforums, like 'Custom events and Code', 'PHPR variables, DAL variables and how to use them', 'Security', 'Visual Editor and Style editor', etcetera.

Whatever.
This way, I could search for information within one specific subforum, and then the results of a search will probably be relevant for a greater percentage.

So it might facilitate finding answers, and hence might reduce the number of (repeated) topics/question on the forum.
Kind regards,

Peter

Check the PHPrunner manual: http://xlinesoft.com/phprunner/docs/

it is not easy to find the right solution in the docs.

especially for those whoese level of understanding php and asp is very low.

We buy software ONLY because it is advertised as easy to use for those who does not know asp/php
from this page:http://asprunner.com/

Benefits of using ASPRunner are:
Can save you time and money.

Improve functionality of your web site.

Create robust, easy to modify code.

Easy to use, you can generate your first ASP pages in just ten minutes.

No programming required.

however, each event requires some sort of programming
therefore, I would second to create a subform for the events in ASP and PHP separately and would also suggest to the ASPRunner team to nominate a moderator from the list of active users -if they accept this responsibility.

Having more subforums greatly reduces the chance of each particular question to be answered. Besides that - many questions do not fall into one specific category.
While advice to study the manual sounds harsh it's really the best way to get started with your project customization. While PHPRunner and ASPRunnerPro allow you to build 80%-90% of your project using just mouse at some point you need either to learn a few things or hire someone to do that for you. You cannot replace $100K/year software engineer with $400 software. No silver bullet here.

The reason posted by Mitzi was not why I asked for more subforums. I know (some) PHP programming, and I do not feel uncomfortable doing it. But a dedicated forum would still not be an unnecessary luxury.

A subforum which handles PHP (or ASP) related questions would help a lot in programmng events the RIGHT way, meaning embedded in the PHPRunner architecture as intended.

That's why I also would greatly welcome more extensive information about the DAL implementation (Smarty) and the (structure of the) PHPR environment variables, for instance.
As for 'topics falling into different subcategories': does the forum software support tags, like in blogs? Then people could tag their posts, which would facilitate searching. Maybe a moderator should be the only person having the rights to add tags, ensuring the proper structure.

Something like that...
