Edit Record in Pop up on Custom link

Hi Guys
I have a list page and have enabled edit in pop up which works fine. I have also added to the list page a custom link to edit the same record but it is just a different custom view. The correct record to be edited is displayed when I click on the link but not as a pop up. I have enabled edit as pop up in the custom view.
Any help would be much appreciated.

i have the same problem

  1. enabled view in edit mode on popup
  2. added the javascript onload in the master list page
    still it shows a popup view of the custom detail page with the right record from the master list page
    any help on this?
