Filter before report Loads

I have a very Large report and most of the time I don't want all the information in it I want to be able to get some of it from the report. I want when I click the report I get the Advance Search page first that way I can enter the parameters I want from the report. I have tried putting the search page to load as an event but when it does load it does not work I would like some help with this or suggestion as how to apply a filter before the whole report loads.

I am using a database to get the information from the report (Microsoft Sql Server) You input would be greatly appreciated.

I think you can modify link in Menu Builder so it points to the report search page. When people choose this report from the menu they proceed to the search page first. Menu Builder is available on Visual Editor screen.
