Hello all.
I have created a test table called contacts. Fields include:
fname

lname

date_created

date_modified

user_created

user_modified
On the view / edit page(s) I would like the Created By: Creation Date: - Modified By: Modify Date: fields to appear at all times. I remember having seen / done this in FileMaker Pro.
When record is first created the user who originally created it and the date it was created should appear in respective fields. The values here are unlikely to ever change.

However, the user/date modified fields will change each and every time that given record is changed in any way.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. If this is a topic that is discussed in the manual I would happy to refer to it if someone would be kind enough to point me to it.

Hi Osteele,
in the "Before record added" event enter the following code:

$values['date_created'] = now(); //or time() if you are using timestamp

$values['user_created'] = $_SESSION['UserID'];

return true;


Then in the "Before record updated" event enter the following code:

$values['date_modified'] = now(); //or time() if you are using timestamp

$values['user_modified'] = $_SESSION['UserID'];

return true;
