Mass update on List view

Maybe this was answered, however I havent been able to find the solution.

I would like to add a button called "Update Selected" to the "List View" page of my application.

I would then "tick" the boxes for all the records I wish to update.

I would like when the button is clicked to be able to select any one of my fields from the list view, for example "Response Date", populate with a date and all the selected records would be updated. Edit All require this to be done one record at a time, when updating hundreds of records, this is too time consuming.
