record locking confirm?

Can I get a little more information on the record locking? I have read the brief topic located at http://xlinesoft.com/asprunnerpro/docs/audit.htm , but my questions is when a user (non admin) is editing a record aprox 4 mins (1 min before default unlock) a yellow line that states confirm appears across the users screen, but it greys all information out. How can the user confirm (besides hitting refresh on their browser) to continue editing the document. The issue arises when they started typing in information but it greys out at the 4 minute mark so they lose all of thier previous information they entered.
what is the purpose of the confirm if you can not click on it to continue editing?
