Org Chart?

We have a fairly simple database that has been used as a phone directory with photos of our employees. Just information like Name, Department, Phone Number, Extension, etc. Now management wants to use this database as an org chart.
I know I'd have to add another field for each record for the hierarchy and I don't think this would be too big of a deal, but I really don't know where I'd start to try to display the records in a Org Chart sort of layout. I did a little searching and came up with Google's OrgChart Visualization but don't really understand how I'd integrate that into my site... Would I have to make a separate theme for that sort of layout change?
I guess my real question is has anyone else tried something like this? Any pointers would be appreciated.
