Here in rural Spain, the internet ican be a hit and miss.
I spent a lot of money on this piece of kit, in the hope that I would be able to do most of the work on my laptop, which I never connect to the internet ( to be safe).
This does not appear to be the case and I have to be tied to the internet.
Really depressed about it.
Sorry to go public on this... but that's the way I feel.

Sorry fellow, this is not true! I work on a virtual machine and am not always connected to the internet. Sound slike you got something wrong.

All you need is to have a local webserver on your machine then you only upload your project to your 'production' webserver once you finish it.

It's quite easy to run windows IIS and create a virtual directory that maps to your ASPR/PHPR output folder.
may be you should ask for some specific help and what is not working for you before you start getting mad. I tried myself many applications/application framework and the support and features of ASPR are way better than any other I have seen. Just browse this forum for a minute to see how many users are happy with this product, look at how quick jane and sergey -forum admins- answer the questions and provide help. This is really one of the rare products where you get very good value for your money!
Anyway, please make sure you ask a precise question if you need help. When does your application need to connect through the web? Do you have a local web server? Download Apache or install win IIS on your win server and you should be just fine. When you are ready to copy your output files, make sure you adjust your include/dbconnection.asp file with the correct DB username/pwd and hostname details.

you'll need a local server to build apps locally offline - this product is actually incredibly flexible but by it's design it builds applications that are meant to be served by a web server therefore whether it's on a remote system or locally you'll need a web server that is capable of serving ASP or PHP pages and access any particular database type you happen to be using thus the requirement for your local machine to also have the appropriate drivers / runtime mime types installed and configured.

I am sorry that you feel this way.
I can only base this on my personal experience. ASPRunner and PHPRunner have to be the best packages I have tested and used on the market to develop applications that provided a frontend run over any database.
For years, Microsoft and other software providers ( I have used DateEase, Foxpro, DBase, Ironspeed) all have touted their packages as the simplest and most robust application development packages for the novice and advanced user to extract data from both large and small datasets. None have come as close as these Xline has.
Their support of the product regardless of how large the staff, has been the best I have encountered for years in the software support spectrum.
I completely disagree with your assessment of this software.

You are probably all correct about the product ....
.... because that is how you find it.
I apologise unreservedly if I caused offence ....
I simply had to share my frustration.... with anyone !!
