Sum total not showing on reports

I'm using PHPRunner 5.0 and have set up reports to display the contents of an accounts database. Despite ticking the checkboxes to create sum totals, the created pages do not show any totals at all, no errors, just blank, as if I hadn't set them up.
Is there something I could be missing, or a simple fix for this?
