Shopping Cart Template general questions

I am trying to use shopping cart template as a cart but all it creates is a single buy button doesn't give me the ability to add to cart. Pls advise.

Make sure you are not confusing Paypal template which only provides 'Buy now' button with Shopping Cart Template.
